After 28 incredible years, as of August 31st, Happy Dog Training & Behavior is closing.
 

I am so grateful to have been able to make a living training dogs and teaching people. But owning a business - even one you love - can be all-consuming, and as life has evolved, so have my priorities. The plan to downsize the Happy Dog space and scale back my hours in 2024 unfortunately encountered a few significant obstacles at the last minute. At this stage of my career, relocating the business would be a huge undertaking, so I’ve decided it’s the right time to retire.

 

I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who helped Happy Dog succeed: the vets and other trainers that referred us, my friends and family, Lorrie Francis (you can find her at barkitectsdogtraining.com), and above all, my students. Knowing I've helped you and your dogs live happier, more fulfilling lives together has been the most rewarding part of my career.

I won’t be completely disappearing from the dog world. I’m giving a talk at the Northport Library on September 14th, and I’ll be at Pawfest in Huntington in October, so I hope to see you at one of those events. Former students can still reach out via email with questions but it may take some time to get back to you. (I’ll eventually be exploring ways to offer training and behavior help on a limited basis without the demands of a large training school, so keep an eye on the website in 2025.)

I will miss all of you and your furry friends! It has been an honor to serve this community. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, I am happy; looking forward to the next chapter of my life and staying connected with the many wonderful people I’ve met along the way.
